I have often wondered how the USA and the Middle East became such great enemies. If you have these thoughts, I suggest you see a documentary called
Road to 9/11. The documentary is simply fascinating. It tracks a century of relationships between Irag, Britain, USA, Germany, Palestine, Israel, and others. These relationships lead to Sept. 11.
The documentary also gives you a glimpse into the USA/Israel and Palestinian conflicts.
So, if you are one of those people whose world was shattered by what appeared to be a random act of hatred Sept. 11, 2001, check out this documentary. After seeing it, I wondered why I hadn't learned more about these relationships in the media and in my history classes. I was also stunned that it took 100 years for the situation to escalate to the Sept. 11 bombings.
I'm not going to sit here and say I agree with the violence. What I will say is that after seeing the documentary and watching the years of conflict, I have a better understanding of why it happened. I also have a better understanding of why the USA is hated by many of the middle eastern countries. The conflict didn't begin with Ayatollah Khomeini, Quadafi, or Saddam Hussein. It dates way back, even before WWII.
I also understand why Israel and Palestine continue to fight. I had been led to believe the fighting was due to the ancestral relationship of the Jews and the Muslims. Both groups are descendants of Abraham and as such are heir to his belongings. The fighting is much more complex than that. If you look at a map of Palestine and Israel, you will see that the placement of Israel makes it virtually impossible for the two to separate themselves. Their boundaries flow in and out of each other.
If you really want to understand what happened September 11, 2006, check out the documentary.
